should be seen as a sound basis for building the experience and knowledge

British Canoeing

Who is this for?

This is a 2-day course. We’ll start the day on the beautiful and pollution-free Silver Wing Lake where we’ll practice rescue and open water skills. Day 2 will be on a picturesque stretch of the Thames nearby, where we can complete a journey and develop our moving water skills.

This course is suited to people who have a decent bit of paddling experience under their belt and want to branch out. Perhaps you’ve invested in a paddleboard, canoe or a touring kayak. You’ve learned the strokes & have good control of your craft (equivalent to Paddle Explore level) and now want to build the skills needed to undertake more ambitious journeys in a Sheltered Water environment.

Please bring your normal paddling gear and craft. If you need to borrow a boat, please let me know in advance.

While the awarding body does not set a lower age limit for this course, we are not licensed to deliver adventure training to under 18s unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
