Paddle Paddle Swim is a trading name of Andrew Cockayne (“we”), operating as a sole trader under the umbrella of Paddle UK (formerly British Canoeing) the governing body for paddlesports in the UK.
Who’s Who?
- Paddle UK is the UK-wide umbrella organisation for paddlesports in the UK.
- British Canoeing Awarding Body provides course specifications and assures the standard of training provision.
- Paddles Up Training is the English delivery partner organisation (‘Paddle England’), equivalent to Paddle Scotland, Paddle NI and Paddle Wales in other UK nations.

Code of conduct
We work within the Paddle UK Code of Conduct for the Coaching Workforce. This puts the participant at the centre of everything we do, includng:
- Rights – to participate in sport and physical activity, underpinned by respect and for every individual
- Relationships – based on openness, honesty, mutual trust and respect.
- Personal standards – demonstrating proper personal behaviour and conduct at all times.
- Professional standards – a commitment to ongoing training to ensure safe and correct practice to maximise the benefits and minimise the risks to participants

Safeguarding adults policy
Summary
All adults should be protected from bullying, harassment, discrimination, and abuse. Safeguarding adults is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of adults and protect them from harm. In the event of a concern, we will contact the local authority and notify Paddle UK’s Safeguarding Team.

What information do we collect and why?
In order to provide our service, we required some personal information, which is gathered on a Personal Details form. The purpose of every item of data is shown at the moment of collection and by providing your details you consent to the stated purpose. THis includes:
- Completing certification paperwork with Paddle UK, so that certificates can be issued
- Contacting you in case of unexpected changes to your booking
- Contacting the emergency contact you have provided in the event of an emergency
- Providing your details to the emergency services in the event of an emergency
Data retention
When your data is no longer needed it will be deleted / paper copies destroyed. You have the right to ask us to restrict what we use your personal information for and ask for its deletion. We will only disclose data when’re there is a legal requirement or where we have a statutory duty to do so.
